SUSTAINABILITY

We're on a mission to transform clothing into a force for good. Our garments provide sustainable alternatives to your everyday wear, creating opportunities to address global challenges such as poverty, education access, and pollution.

MATERIALS & MICROPLASTICS

100% of our garments are crafted from a combination of organic, recycled, and reclaimed cotton—never synthetic fibers. Unlike polyester or nylon, cotton is naturally biodegradable and doesn’t shed microplastics when washed. With over 60% of today’s clothing made from plastic, switching to natural fibers helps prevent microplastic pollution and protects our oceans for future generations. By eliminating plastic-based fabrics entirely, we’re cutting off ocean pollution at the source.

OCEAN CLEANUPS

With every item purchased, we fund the removal of one pound of plastic from the ocean through our partnership with 4ocean. Every piece helps restore coastlines, protect marine life, and reduce plastic at the source.

SUPPORTING EDUCATION IN BALI

Beyond the ocean, we believe in empowering the next generation. Through our partnership with the Bali Children’s Project, we’ve been able to fully fund tuition for two students—giving them access to education they otherwise couldn’t afford.

As we grow, we plan to expand our education initiatives and support even more children in underserved communities.

CIRCULARITY

We operate on a small-batch model to avoid overproduction and excess waste. Unsold and imperfect pieces aren’t discarded—they’re offered at a discount in our Imperfect Marketplace, giving them a second life instead of a landfill fate.

PEOPLE FIRST

All of our garments are crafted in Los Angeles by skilled workers who earn between $17.27 and $25 per hour—well above minimum wage. In addition to fair pay, they receive healthcare benefits for under $15 per week, paid sick days, a 401(k) plan, subsidized transit, and favorable overtime policies. By keeping production close and ethical, we ensure that every piece is made with dignity from start to finish.

SOURCING

Every Deep Blue garment is made in Los Angeles, California. We proudly support U.S. farmers and the domestic yarn industry by sourcing our materials locally. This commitment strengthens American manufacturing, reduces our carbon footprint, and ensures the highest quality for every piece we create.

PACKAGING

Our packaging is made from recycled plastic pollution rescued from communities in Southeast Asia. By transforming potential ocean-bound plastic into certified, usable materials, our packaging partner, The Better Packaging Co., helps clean the environment while providing a consistent source of income to improve local standards of living. The outer mailers are Ocean Bound Plastic (OBP) certified, and the inner packaging around each garment is certified home compostable—ensuring that every layer is as responsible as the product inside.

CARBON & ENERGY

All of our garments are made in the U.S., eliminating the emissions tied to overseas manufacturing and air freight. We ship in bulk using ground transportation to reduce our footprint. We're currently working to measure our total carbon impact and plan to begin verified offsetting by the end of the year.

ANIMAL FREE

Deep Blue is a 100% vegan brand. We never use leather, wool, silk, or any animal-derived materials. Even our tags, threads, and trims are completely animal-free—down to the final stitch.

MADE TO LAST

We stand against fast fashion, crafting timeless garments designed to last for years, not seasons. Made from cotton, our pieces outlive synthetic garments, offering durability without compromising the planet.

MEET THE FOUNDER

Hey, I’m Brooke! Deep Blue started as a wild dream and turned into something I’m insanely proud of. Every step of the way has been an adventure, and the timeline below captures it all. Dive in, and see how this little idea grew into a big mission.

OUR JOURNEY

Planting Seeds

August 2023

At 19, I fulfilled my biggest dream: a three-month solo trip to Bali. It was a destination that had lived on my vision board for years, and experiencing it was a mix of terror, excitement, and pure euphoria. I learned more about myself and the world during that short trip than I had in my entire 19 years of living. This journey was the start of something bigger than I ever imagined.

The Spark

September 2023

On a snorkeling trip near Bali, I had an experience that completely changed my life. The captain stopped the boat at what seemed like a random patch of water and told us to jump in. I remember thinking, "Really? This is it?" But the second I submerged, it was like the world paused. Everything went quiet, my mind went still, and then I saw it—a sea turtle gliding effortlessly through the reef. It was pure magic. I’d seen a million pictures of sea turtles, but seeing one in real life hit differently. There was something about watching such a peaceful, natural form of life, untouched by the chaos of the world, that completely shattered me—in the best way. It awakened a passion in me I didn’t even know I had and unlocked a level of happiness I didn’t think was possible. I couldn’t stop smiling for days. That moment, that feeling, made me realize I was out in the world, truly living my dream. It wasn’t just a beautiful day; it was a turning point.

Clarity

October 2023

You might wonder why this milestone begins with a picture of a Dalmatian—let me connect the dots. After that incredible snorkeling trip, nothing seemed to make me feel as alive as the ocean had. I was running my own business, living my dream in Bali, but I felt drained, burnt out, and disconnected. One morning, desperate for clarity, I walked to the beach with my coffee and croissant, hoping the waves would ground me. But even in my happy place, I felt lost. I asked myself, Brooke, you’re in Bali, living your dream—why aren’t you happy? Seeking answers, I turned to the universe. I’d told myself years ago to look for a Dalmatian as a sign that I was on the right path. That morning, I asked the universe for guidance. Minutes later, against all odds, a Dalmatian ran up to me on the beach—a rare sight in Bali. I was stunned, but I still felt directionless. As I walked further, I came across a stretch of beach covered in trash, waves pushing more waste ashore. Moments later, I passed a 4Ocean cleanup crew heading to the beach, and something clicked. The energy, the spark I’d been missing, came flooding back. I realized this was it—this is what makes me feel alive and fulfilled. Life is too short to do anything less than what truly inspires you, and in that moment, I knew it was time to shift gears.

Time to Build

November 2023

With the clarity I had been searching for, I flew back home to California and got to work. From the moment I woke up until about 1 a.m. every single day, I worked relentlessly. For 8 or 9 months, I did nothing else—no fun, no breaks—but I didn’t care. This was the only thing I wanted to do, and it fueled me like nothing else ever had.

The First Drop

February 2024

After months of building and marketing the brand, we finally launched—and it went nuts. The response blew my mind. Seeing my dream come to life was surreal, but the best part was the connection with all the incredible people who believed in our mission and wanted to create positive change with us. It was more than a launch; it was a movement taking its first steps.

Education Initiatives

April 2024

In April, we launched our education sponsorship initiatives to help students in Bali, like Komang and Putu, gain access to education. These students, who might otherwise have to drop out before graduating high school due to poverty, now have the opportunity to stay in school, earn their diplomas, and break the cycle of poverty in their families. It’s about more than education—it’s about creating brighter futures and lasting change.

4Ocean Collaboration

June 2024

This was a full-circle moment if I’ve ever seen one. In June, we partnered with 4Ocean to make an even bigger impact—ensuring that every order from Deep Blue removes a pound of plastic from oceans around the world. The mission that started on a beach in Bali had come to life in the most meaningful way.

Back to Bali

July 2024

In July, we returned to Bali to shoot our campaign on the very beach where it all began. Standing there, bringing the story full circle, was a powerful reminder of how far we’d come and the mission that continues to inspire everything we do.
